Online STL to CDR Conversion

Convert STL files to CDR online

How to Convert STL to CDR

STL (stereolithography) is a 3D model format commonly used in 3D printing. CorelDRAW, however, is a 2D vector design program and does not natively open STL files. To convert STL to CDR, you must first convert the 3D model into a 2D vector format that CorelDRAW supports.

1. Convert STL to 2D Vector Format

  • Open your STL file in a 3D software like Blender, FreeCAD, or MeshLab.
  • Switch to a flat orthographic view (top, side, or front).
  • Export the view as SVG or PDF (vector format).

2. Import into CorelDRAW

Once you have an SVG or PDF:

  • Open CorelDRAW.
  • Go to File → Import and select your exported file.
  • Place it on the canvas and adjust the design.
  • Save the project as .cdr.

3. Use Online Conversion

If you don’t want to install 3D software, try products.conholdate.app:

  • Convert STL → SVG with a 3D-to-2D converter.
  • Download the SVG file.
  • Open it in CorelDRAW.
  • Save as .cdr.

4. Alternative Workflow

Another approach is to create a raster image from the STL model and then trace it:

  • Take a screenshot or render of the STL model.
  • Open the image in CorelDRAW.
  • Use Bitmap → Outline Trace to vectorize it.
  • Save as .cdr.

⚠️ Important:
STL is a 3D format, while CDR is 2D vector. The conversion results in a flat 2D representation of the model, not a full 3D file inside CorelDRAW.
