Online BMP to CDR Conversion

Convert BMP images to CDR online

How to Convert BMP into CDR

BMP (Bitmap Image File) is a raster format that stores pixels. CorelDRAW’s CDR format is vector-based, but it can embed or trace BMPs. That means you can either import BMP as an image inside a CDR document, or use CorelDRAW’s tracing tools to convert the raster image into editable vector graphics before saving as CDR.

1. Import BMP into CorelDRAW

  • Open CorelDRAW.
  • Go to File → Import and select your .bmp file.
  • Place it on the canvas at the desired size.
  • If you just want the bitmap embedded, simply Save As → CDR.

2. Convert BMP to Editable Vector

To create scalable vector artwork from the bitmap:

  • Select the imported BMP inside CorelDRAW.
  • Go to Bitmap → Outline Trace and choose a tracing option (Logo, Detailed, Clipart, etc.).
  • CorelDRAW will generate vector paths from the bitmap.
  • Refine the result and save the file as .cdr.

3. Online Conversion Workflow

For a quick online option using Conholdate:

  • Upload the BMP file to products.conholdate.app.
  • Convert the BMP to SVG or PDF format.
  • Open the exported file in CorelDRAW.
  • Finalize adjustments and save as .cdr.

4. Free Alternative with Inkscape

If CorelDRAW is not available:

  • Open BMP in Inkscape.
  • Use Path → Trace Bitmap to vectorize the image.
  • Save the traced result as SVG.
  • Import the SVG into CorelDRAW and save it as CDR.

⚠️ Important:
BMP is a raster format. If you only embed it, the image won’t scale well. Use vector tracing (Outline Trace or SVG export) if you want resolution-independent graphics in your CDR file.
